Lifelong Friendships & Memories
Your Child Will Have Forever

After a drive through the beautiful countryside of the central coast, visitors arrive at Fort Hope. They are greeted by friendly docents who present them with straw cowboy hats and bandanas. Then they are divided into groups and begin their activities.

  • Archery
  • Fishing
  • Corn Husk Doll crafting
  • Butter Making
  • Gold Panning
  • Holding Ducks
  • BB guns
  • and More

The kids have a break for lunch which is followed by ice cream. At the end of the day, the children have some great souvenirs including things they’ve made, their bag of gold, as well as memories to last a lifetime.

For schools, students are able to share and reflect on what they learned and are able to see history through a more experienced perspective.

Meet The Faces Behind Fort Hope

Pat Loomis
Pat Loomis
Founder and Director of Fort Hope, Patrick loves building things and working with his hands. With a love of nature, a little dream, and the support of family and friends he built Fort Hope to be a place of wonder and excitement. For over 20 years he has provided a space for at risk youth and their families to have life changing moments and experiences. As the founder he does it all, from feeding the sheep in the morning to setting up the cowboy hats and bandanas for the kids before an event, he is always there willing to serve the families that pass through our gates. Love for people, love for God, and a love for families is one of his greatest talents.
Leigh Ann Loomis
Leigh Ann Loomis
Co-Founder and CFO of Fort Hope, Leigh Ann keeps the ship running tight and smooth. When she isn’t making sure that everything runs smoothly you can find her cheerily teaching the corn husk doll crafting sessions. She teaches hands on craft skills that are gradually becoming lost because she loves seeing kids and adults come together. Her favorite moments are when the whole family proudly shares their dolls with each other. Most of her work is behind the scenes and we are truly grateful for her gentle guidance and support.
Donovan Loomis
Donovan Loomis
After 13 years in South Korea, Donovan Loomis returned to the Central Coast and is the director of the Unplugged Retreat. There he obtained a Masters in Education Administration and launched his own language education business in Korea.
With over 6 years of communication and life coaching experience he specializes in helping people see life from a different perspective and encouraging healthy discourse. Having worked with youth and adults, he has the unique ability to understand both worldviews and helps bridge the gap.
